Google+ Reaches 50 Million User Mark in About 88 Days

Google+ Reaches 50 Million User Mark in About 88 Days

Yesterday (give or take a few days) Google+ likely crossed the 50 million user mark. And since being opened to the general public (over age 18) last week, Google+ has been growing by at least 4% per day, meaning that around 2 million new users have been signing up each day.
By integrating +1 and Circles (targeted sharing) and other Google+ functionality into its Chrome browser, Android phones (and tablets), Gmail, Google Reader, Blogger, Google Photos, and other properties, Google+ will give its more than one billion users repeated chances to sign up for and use the functionality of Google+. Like the Chrome commercials say, "the web is what you make of it." And with Google+, you can make so much more of it that ever before.

Below is the growth comparison chart Which demostrates g+ time to reach 50 million users. This Chart is originally created by Leon HÃ¥land on G+.

Steam Has Been Hacked

Steam Has Been Hacked
The world Largest Gaming platform have been hacked. It has been confirmed that Valve’s Steam service has been compromised. Last week there was a report that only the forums had been hacked, however the situation seems far more dire than first thought.
Valve fortunately took more precautions in protecting its user’s information. Most of the information that is important was heavily encrypted and may not have been touched. Valve is not forcing Steam customers to change their passwords because of the heavy encryption, Valve is confident that no passwords were compromised. Mr. Newell says that it may still be a good idea to change your Steam password though.

The e-mail from Valve boss Gabe Newell reads as follows:

"Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users,

Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6.  We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums.

We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums.   This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. We are still investigating.

We don’t have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.

While we only know of a few forum accounts that have been compromised, all forum users will be required to change their passwords the next time they login. If you have used your Steam forum password on other accounts you should change those passwords as well.

We do not know of any compromised Steam accounts, so we are not planning to force a change of Steam account passwords (which are separate from forum passwords). However, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to change that as well, especially if it is the same as your Steam forum account password.

We will reopen the forums as soon as we can.

I am truly sorry this happened, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Gabe".

Nokia starts free WiFi service in London

Nokia are spending a huge amount promoting the launch of their Lumia smartphone and now they've announced they are trialling a  free WiFi service in London !

The WiFi will be absolutely free and you won't even have to give your personal details. All you have to do is be in a hotspot search for the Nokia WiFi network and agree to the terms and conditions.

Amazingly, there won't be any data limits but speeds per connection will be limited to 1mbps, which is more than enough for browsing and downloading small files. All types of devices will be supported including smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Nokia's WiFi service is provided by Spectrum Interactive and will be trialled until December at 26 hotspots in the captial.

It's a smart move from Nokia especially if they incorporate some branding and advertising when customers are connecting or using the service. The guys at 3G are happy to claim freebies and this WiFi trial is one of the best around !

Google to Index Facebook Comments

Any Facebook comment posted on any third-party website has been indexed by Google by Now.

Previously, comments made on Facebook and other social networking sites did not show up in Google searches because search engines were unable to read Facebook's programming automatically. Now, Google will be able to read comments posted on Facebook using Facebook's Connect add-in for other Web sites.
If a Facebook account holder signs into another Web site using his or her Facebook account and leaves a comment, that comment can now show up in Google searches. Comments left on Facebook alone are not yet being indexed.

Facebook and Google may not be having strong professional bonding, but this news of indexing can be seen as good news for the social networking giant. Those who, in view of SEO criteria, were avoiding commenting through Facebook Commenting Box can now use this medium to voice their opinion.

Google plus Invite Mechanism Shut Down

The new social network by Google,Google+ was shut off just hours after it was introduced to people. According to reports, it was because of the large amounts of people coming to the site. After the said event happened, people are still trying to get in Google+ via loopholes; and these loopholes can be found in different website postings online.
Google+, made a beta launch last Wednesday evening. The launch was said to have been so successful that Google needed to shut down the invite program.

Google Plus is an Invite Only Platform now

Google’s new social network is an exclusive site that not many have access to yet. Since it is made and designed by Google, people expect for it to be nothing short of spectacular. But the sad part is, not everyone can actually use Google+. Google has made it a point to limit the amount of people who have access to join Google+. just like an exclusive party, you’ll need to have an invite first before obtaining access to get in.
